Call for Papers: PPE Europe Annual Conference 2025

Milan, 21-23 May 2025

Invited Speakers:
Daniel Hausman (Rutgers University)
Joan C. Tronto (University of Minnesota)

Conference Theme: Welfare in the Twenty-First Century
The model of welfare state that emerged in Western societies in the
middle of the Twentieth Century is widely considered a success, and has
been extensively replicated in the rest of the world. It not only
realized ideas of justice, but also created political legitimacy for
democracy and capitalism. Several warning signals however indicate that
the model may be inadequate to deal with challenges such as declining
birth rates, low economic growth, migrations, and pandemics. This
conference will address these challenges from a philosophical,
political, legal and economic perspective.

We welcome papers in all areas of PPE, but special consideration will be
given to contributions that focus on health, aging and welfare in the
Twenty-first Century.
