The Spanish Society of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science (SLMFCE) and the Department of Philosophy, Universidad de Oviedo organize the XI Conference of the SLMFCE to be held in Oviedo from 16th to 19th July 2024.

The conference will host the fifth edition of the Lullius Lectures, which will be in charge of Prof. John Dupré (Director of Egenis, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Exeter, UK) (https://sociology.exeter.ac.
We invite submissions for both contributed papers and proposals for symposia (in English or Spanish) to the following sections:
A Logic, History and Philosophy of Logic
B Philosophy of Language
C Philosophy of Mind and Epistemology
D Philosophy and Methodology of the Sciences
E History of Science
F Science, Technology and Society
G Argumentation
H John Dupré’s Philosophy
Communicaton proposals:
Abstracts for contributed papers and symposia are to be submitted electronically at https://forms.gle/
Submissions of contributed papers (communications) will have a maximum of 5,000 characters (around 700 words), and 1,000 characters for references. Up to 5 people per communication are allowed.
Submissions for symposia should include the following: a) A justification of the symposium’s relevance to the conference (maximum 3,000 characters, i.e. 500 words), and 1,000 characters for references. b) A brief summary of each speaker’s presentation (maximum 4,000 characters, i.e., 600 words). Each symposium must include a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 speakers, plus the person who acts as the symposium’s coordinator.
The maximum time allocated for symposia at the conference will be 2 hours with at most 5 participants.
Authors will be informed about the acceptance of submissions before the end of April 2024.
Please note that, if accepted, the text you propose will be the version that will be published in the congress proceedings.
Travel Grant-Awards:
To further encourage research efforts among the younger generation, the SLMFCE announces three travel grant awards for the three best contributions to the conference by young researchers. Candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Be a master’s or doctoral student, or have defended the doctoral thesis after May 15th, 2018.
- Be a member of the SLMFCE or become a member of it at the time the communication proposal is sent.
- Obtain an excellent grade in the anonymous evaluation of your contribution carried out by the scientific committee of the congress.
- Not having received this award previously. The grant provided will be to cover the expenses incurred by travel, accommodation and congress registration, up to a maximum of 500 euros for each award-winning person. The SLMFCE will provide evidence of the award. If there are more than two applicants whose communications have been evaluated as excellent, the Board will decide based on the quality of the contributions. Having already sent their proposal, young researchers who wish to have access to this grant must send an email to solofici@gmail.com giving his or her details and attaching the paperwork proving they meet all the conditions mentioned above.
